How to Wash a Natural Hair Wig or Topper
How do you wash a natural hair wig or topper?
If you are new to the world of natural wigs but don't know how to manage them, this article will really help you.
One of the most common causes of a wig's short lifespan is poor maintenance.
Let's see together, point by point, how to properly take care of this type of wig , so as to keep them soft and shiny for longer. You can choose to follow all the steps, or choose to use the essential products, namely: SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER.
Remember, however, that natural hair, not receiving nourishment from our body, will often need a pack (mask) for its health.
1. Place your wig on the wig stand (head) (Figure A) and, using the shower head, wet it thoroughly, using warm water . Get ready to give it a real shower!
2. Apply a small amount of shampoo (Figure B) from the roots , spreading the product along the lengths : in this step, be careful to avoid creating circular movements with your fingers near the knots. You risk ruining them!
3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
4. Repeat the conditioner step (Figure C), avoiding direct contact with the lace inserts: concentrate on the lengths and ends, where the wig tends to knot the most. Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on how much the fibers need it.
5. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
At this point you can decide to stop and gently comb your wig, placing it in a well-ventilated space to let it dry naturally. If it is winter, you can use a hair dryer to speed up this step.
If your wig has been used for a long time, and needs a little extra pampering, you can continue with the following steps:
6. Apply the mask (Figure D) concentrating the product especially on the lengths. Leave it to act for as long as needed.
7. Rinse off excess product, gently comb the wig and let it air dry.
8. To prevent split ends and further hydrate the ends of the hair, you can apply argan oil (Figure E) to dry hair.
Human hair wigs require styling, just like normal hair, so you can use a hair dryer and straighteners, or take it to the hairdresser!
